"LIVE" is much more..... INCREDIBLE .....well, be there next time!

Oo... "Sonic Princess" is such a nice title :)

I've some friends there, I'll look into securing us a free of charge attic with a sauna, somewhere they have concerts nightly.

Let's just move to Sweden

Such a great song. The whole new CD is pretty amazing!

sways responded to Kwabs - Spirit Fade:

I envy you, sincerely and wholeheartedly :)

All I've got to live for is an Alice Russel show coinciding with my birthday.

Ha! Just went to see him live this past Friday. So awesome!

sways responded to Joe Banfi - Nomads:

I know, I know. Maybe all there is to it is he's new and slightly surprising. Or maybe a year from now, I will still play these songs, as I play James Vincent's and Kristian Matsson's and.. hmm.. Ben Howard's. Right now, I confess to be in a bit of aural rapture.

There are a plethora of waistcoat clad troubadours to choose from, but I guess this commuter Mancunian is fine. I don't like words.

yep....this is the song..... love it!

as usual, quality tune from you. nicely done, sways ;)

Master Shifu!! That was the name! You know what's coming, right? :) Cus I just contemplated the awesomeness of the sky and it was kinda awesome. And there were leaves in the way, being blown by the wind, and there were these puffy pollen things flying around and coming through my window and going into my nose.. That part wasn't so awesome, though..

And though my body's thin and
I dont let anyone in
I cant help but let this begin.

And though I may seem cold
and I feel im growing old
I wish that you would just come home,
I'm tired of feeling alone.
Please tell me how to let go.

Love I know you're doing fine,
your charters end so well,
and love I love your welling eyes,
you seem happy I can tell.
Love I know you'll be alright,

'cause love, your book will end,
but I am a different story.

I know I am a mess
and I love most people less
but I miss the feel of your summer dress
and all this may be weird
I can feel you are not near
but please baby just come back here.
Please baby just come back here.

Love, I know you'll be alright,
your chapters end so well
love, I love your welling eyes

Love, your tale will end just fine,

I first heard Sufjan with Illinoise and then Illinoize shortly after, which put in perspective how great music does not care about genre. And while Illinoise is great and sprawling, Michigan feels more contained and personal and I'd put it on weekend afternoons.

I love Sufjan. Favorite song - For the Widows in Paradise, For the Fatherless in Ypsilanti

Wow. Just Wow. We need more music like this.

When it comes to the "certain" kind of music we're talking about, I have to work my way through a couple of tracks before I find one you haven't uploaded... you could say you drive me to find what's new or to the side of "mainstream production". I heard the LP the other day as well, this was an earlier limited release, yeah? I like it better.

Not sure how you do it, but you're always one step ahead of me with certain music. Just started listening to this CD the other day.

Yeah I agree with your comparison with Enigma and EITS. And I also explored their discography and felt the same way as you did...The last album (Third Party) is filed with great songs (rerun, slow years, cynics cough but I wouldn't recommend the one before slow burning lights, as not many songs catched my attention... Havent got the chance to listent to NOIR yet tho but I have great expectations!

Teddyz posted a song from their "Slow Burning Lights" album to the TFG, which, when I explored their discography back, was a lucky thing, as their preceding sound was not something I could get into.
But I got into that - SBL had a number of tracks you wanted to relisten, like Honesty, Stillness, Secrets - etc generics that don't quite explain it. But we talked about 'it' for a week and moved on.
This popped in the blogosphere, I remembered liking them once before and there you go...as if a calmer Explosions in the Sky met with Enigma and mixed in a choir of your friends.

When streams turn pink in the setting sun,
And a slight shudder rushes through the wheat fields,
A plea for happiness seems to rise out of all things
And it climbs up towards the troubled heart.

Bummer you don't have imagination outside of the bedroom, Brooklyn.
The protagonist starts off with a cutesy 'baby', but then decides to drop the act and tell it how it is. "Fuck. Here's what is on my mind". She makes his blood quicken. He wants her to be spontenous. Be the one who initiates stuff. Sex on the train.

the song starts with "baby - fuck"
for realz.

you are so off with this one. this is one of the sexiest songs on thefeelgood and deserves a fitting cover! this girl is never gonna have sex on the train!

Bummer you don't have imagination outside of the bedroom, Brooklyn.
The protagonist expresses his love and wishes she weren't so shy and proper and would do something freaky. Perhaps he is propositioning sex on the train. The quality of his plea may suggest she will acquiesce to his request.

Yes - the piano. No - it still works, we are just spoilt. Yes - that's why I always expect less.

nothing worse than unfulfilled expectations, they can stain even a perfectly good thing.

Уфффф, i love the piano part, it's reminiscent of the Moon soundtrack and it introduces so much promise in the beginning, but then the vocal part is just not up to par and a tiny bit disappointing to me.. so every time I hear the piano I reach for that "heart" button and then retract unsatisfied... пфффф... dilemmas..

No, thank you. We're just too much of "great music minds think alike" and find ourselves in the "I was going to upload this" situation.

Do you guys want a "I was going to upload this" button? :)

I was going to upload this... Love it.

The other two Black Dubs I have sound a little subdued ... I thought I'd wait on the album versions for the what-could-be.

you changed it. not that i mind... like them both anyway

Mhm.. but you need a different 'i'd rather'.
You won't make a good blind person, buddy.
Braille is a bummer; dancing in private you can't look in the mirror; dancing in public, you'll hit people.

"I’d rather go blind
Than be this
Misunderstood
I’d rather go blind
Than be this
Misunderstood"

*sigh*

I'm inlove! Totally!

Nah, I'm good.
Go do some work for a change ;)

Do you want me to copy-paste here(on TFGI) my yesterday comments about this jewel?

wow...
coming from you, Brooklyn, that means so ... well, not much.

the distortion is a deliberate part of the record.

bravo, dobre se spravish s muzikata lately... ama neshto kachestvoto tuka mai..

bojeeee, kolko mnogo obicham tazi pesen!

Is it?
Well, get you in the mood for the weekend, I figured, and kids might get lucky in turn...

can't you mix them up so they're not consecutive? you never know what ugly creatures might come out of that twilight zone..

ok.. since we know you'll fav my friday and saturday uploads, we're now in the twilight zone.... three consecutive faves from you.

Wooow! Totally awesome!

Matches the weather around here. Love the pick.

F... mee!
O what the heck, I'll prolly end up faving every song in your channel.

That's an awesome track, maybe I should made another tag "Sways' finest"

i have forgotten how much i love this track.

Oh, you know me and my opinion of your standards... this should be the least of your worries, it can only improve.

Yes, the awesomest.
If it helps, there's a repost you could scoff at..

well, what is this now?! i can't go and like every single song that was posted today... people will think i don't have *standards* :P

this is a fucking awesome cover!!!

i LOVE the frigging picture (can't resist girls with sexy backs).

song is not that bad either. :)

but how will you do that if this will be playing?

when i shake my thang at you, you'll change your mind.

no minds were changed during this 'discussion'.
i'm shaking my head at you.

i just have *standards*, sways. we discussed this already.

that's such a waste, Brooklyn.. having a black thang and such a limited response to music.

hands off my thang, sways. of all things it's the blackest.

what do you know of thangs, you don't have one...
i'm even starting to doubt your have the phantom thang that white girls who claim they can dance should have...

i like the picture, sways. really do.
that's where my liking ends. :)

You didn't have to, Brooklyn. Not like you're going to tango lessons and this is supposed to give you the chills.
Oh, wait, you -are- going! And it is.

hm.. i like this today.

You're so chicken, you selected my last "classical" day to challenge me to a rap-off... ! Laaaame...

haha... you lose by default, biyatch.

Please. You started.
I am sorry if you are tilting and fear anything that you identify as "sad".
When I want to stay depressed, I listen to other stuff. Or nothing at all. This 'stuff' - is beautiful.

entering the land of nasty, sways.
come back.

But your opinion is like the worse currency on thefeelgood... can't you just, you know, slit and keep it to yourself?

wait a sec. i'll go slit my wrists and then come back to tell you what i think.

Yesterday, with a Fuck You track I had not very enthusiastically uploaded and an outlined week in music that made me feel nothing at all, I reached some kind of limit and made up my mind to take a break from thefeelgood and obsessively looking for new music...
Pulled out some classical recordings to get my mind straight, from that and other issues, a reset if you will, and realized "old" music will have to do just fine.
Gear up for winter, Y.

The violin sound always reminds me of winter. It's like the most powerful free association in my life. Luckily,I happen to adore winter, so this Josef Suk definitely strike a chord in me

if you had paid more attention to my uploads over the last year and a half, you'd know all about the arrow, Teddy.
So, as the song goes... ;)

cursing releases so much tension, it's great.

now who is that arrow pointing at?

- even some boys...
- more so than Barry's, whose bedroom bass can sound forced.
- I'll pick up smoking. Ty me again in 30 years.

this is the kind of voice a girl would like to make love to her.

Now this... this is something else.

If Roark was a composer this piece would be his.

There is hunger and yearning in this piece but it is also the object of the hunger and the yearning. As if it is desperately trying to reach itself, striving to get a hold of its own splendor.
So special.. so human.

Ayn Rand is totally messing with my head.

Should've stuck a Not Suitable For Morning on it, eh?

"Ok, why not?" is all one could ask, really.

The Invisible Frame was the only one of manageable length. I have fifty more minutes of poking around somebody's strange mind, complete with some great references. And now and then, there's magic.

Thanks. Always good to be told you're justified in burning money.

Uh, there's something in this obsessive, dreamy melody that I just can't express in words and this verbal impotence is killing me.
It's like, it's like crossing imaginary boundaries and dive into a dimention of pure timelessness...Love it, great investment Sway.

Yesterday's lunch was fine, except that gross, repulsive, nauseating, yucky parsley they had put in my salad. About the TFGI meet up, Not-all-yellow said "OK, why not?".

that's some serious brain-poking in the morning

Good. Then I'm not coming. Good luck explaining it to people ;)

Confession: I hated them at first. I got the whole discography, listened from beginning to the end and just tossed it to the bin. They were just mumbling and being all sad and drunk.
Then stuff happened in my life and their music came across me again. Like it was standing on my way. This time I was different, with different ear and mindset. Maybe I had to grow up to understand them, I don't know. I love them ever since.

This is easier on the ears, trained or not.

Hm, why nobody liked her songs before? My well-trained ears find Amanda quite pleasent.

Time to write Zusak some fan mail...

I fell asleep last night while listening to Max and reading "The Book Thief". And I was thinking - since 20th Century Fox acquired the rights to the novel and is planning to adapt it to film, these guys should definitely hire him to write the music. It will be a match made in heaven.

Hi! Could you send this song .mp3 file at marvel77(at)gmail(dot)com? Thanks a lot.

I love this

pebbles wrote:

Thank you, sways, not sure how to work this thing yet.. but I`m sure I`ll get the hang of it..

Mhm, I don't see many pop artists going "An der schönen blauen Donau" and most kids will call his polka "Oh, it's that melody from the cartoons..."
It's another story when a melody makes you mouth "Summertiiime.. and the living is eaasy.."
You can still make your case, but the best we can come to is an impasse, because my copy of "And The Rest Is Noise" cites numerous cases of how classical compositions or motifs entered pop culture.. thus, rightly, I'll call them "pop".

By the same logic, you can call and Johann Strauss II a pop composer/artist :)

So you're saying Porgy and Bess was not wildly popular at the time, not to mention that both Gershwin & Heifetz were household names at their height, the kind they'd play incessantly on the radio, since the government had it in their head they could bring culture and sophistication to folks in their homes or even out on the farm...?

I just don't get it - POP?!! My copy of "When the Fat Lady Sings: Opera History As It Ought To Be Taught" begs to differ with you on that...

dat a girl!, with the pockets turned out...

aight, aight... tis shit is rad.

You're correct.
We are no kind of peers - what with your overeducation (compared to mine) and belonging to the generation preceding mine. ;)

it's not peer pressure it's teddy pressure :P

good. good.

They say it's a song about Vegas... but what do I know about Vegas...
So I just pretend it's a Narnia metaphor!
I can totally make a case for that!..

Really, with that on the soundtrack and maybe a vampire critter, the movie could've gone places...

I love this song! I can't believe it hasn't been uploaded before. DAMNIT :)

I have a few recordings with the ONF - later ones - and nothing of Haas'. Hadn't even heard her name, but then again, I'm new to this.
Her wikipedia entry says she was noted for her Ravel. Well, then.. can't wait.

Monique Hass,Orchestre National De France, april 1965 is the answer to your question

That a frustrated "just great.."?
Why would you change your upload, it's an entirely different feeling that a piano backed by a Symphony Orchestra brings to the table.
I am wondering which recording you chose, I fished around and they all sound distinctive - Francois, Richter, ZImmerman?

Just great:(
Now I have to change my upload for June 25, because it's again Ravel but with The Piano Concerto for the Left Hand in D major.

I gotta ask, how did this site get started? I remember stumbling across it a couple years ago and there are some people that I recognize when I first found it that are still using it.

So lets recap - you owe most of who you are today to your doll... you pick blonde girlfriends in her image and spent sleepless nights with books and music you wouldn't have otherwise devoted so much time to..
and yet you wouldn't fav the song? Bajka is a beautiful brunette if that's any comfort.

Anita was a slut. With her blue eyes, long golden locks and perfectly shaped face, this doll gave me some early lessons on the frustration isuue. I lived in constant fear that my mom wished her own kid was someone more like Anita, not me.
About the second part - sleeping in a room with a doll that creeped you out equals a long-term sleep disorders. But at the end of the day, it was exactly the insomnia that made me who I am now.

mhm..
Here was my reasoning last night:
"The music's kind of boring, her voice the saving grace... so instead of yet another Janelle track, no matter how good, I might as well.."

I thought girls loved their dolls... was it nice sleeping in a room with a doll that creeped you out?

I just can't fave that! The melody is OK, but her voice sounds like the one of my creepy childhood doll Anita. The resemblance is so striking that it gives a shiver - not a pleasant one.

Lastly, if for any reason you are not all over it - I was talking about the Shutter Island OST.

Next Sunday I'll be laying in the tall grass somewhere in the Middle Rhodopi and I'll replay this song until I fully understand the line "Today you're young, too soon, you're old" and tha whole "My life is like the dust" thing.
Three days ago my girl Not-at-all-yellow accused me of being "too commercial" at tfg so I decided to step back for a while and try to improve my music taste by listening to the best good feelers and now I'm checking out your old - 2008-2009 uploads.

It's not just Friday - it's summer Friday :)))

Must be hard on you, torn between all those great loves...
As illustrated by HBO in Big Love, I'd say polygamy is the solution to your problems.
I give Abel a decade or so before you start sneaking nightly listens of him without the other four knowing.

As you may have noticed - I have a huge infatuation with movie composers and for a veeery long time Armstrong was my №1 (John Williams being №2), but now with this talented freshmans - Dario Marianelli and Adrian Johnston, it's just so hard...

Yes.
A Voinata na taralejite-esque childhood was all the rage until the mid-90s.
His music is highly evocative - though I feel as if the title is a mere guideline.
In any case, this one's on you - I knew his music before, but you put a name to it with the Space Between Us album and I set out to find more.
I've taken a few days off from work this week - yesterday afternoon I spent with his Piano Works.

Craig The Great!
It's odd how this music, written by a Scottish composer, can really brings back memories of one BG childhood, full of damaged knees, steep "калдаръми",games of "Стражари и апаши" and a dozen "филии с масло и чубрица" :)

Ravi, my man... Oh, I was sure you'd HATE it. He demotivates me plenty. Or was it distract? I can't focus..
I'll post a faceless pop song next so that mama does not stray from bringing home the bacon.

Stop playing such demotivating tunes, PLEASE! I'm trying to work here, and it's hard enought becouse of the Saturday-Sunday moods around me. Be supportive and post me something like, I don't know - "She works hard for the money"? Your man Ravi sends me directly on a imaginary quest to my most beloved Marocco, and that's no good...

Forecasts always ruin my plans. But this track can make me smile even if pouring rain falls heavily over my camping tent. I've completely forgotten about "Since I Left You", thanks!

jqrd responded to Bonobo - Kiara:

"chilled dubstep .. with violins" :D

Good. But you can't act so hyped and not a tell... especially if you aren't going to upload it.
Yes. It's a pass for two, valid for.. well, everything. I'm even taking Teddy as company tonight.
You're going with Yellow, Not-All? I'm sure she'll sing for both of you.

No, it's not "If 6 was 9". I'm still not sure, if I'll upload it here...
Sofia Music Weeks - nice!
It turns out that I'm attending The Whitest Boy Alive, although I'm not quite familiar with their discography. But who cares - I can't sing anyway :)

All is fair in ... tfg war.
Is this it? If 6 was 9?
I got a pass for the whole of Sofia Music Weeks yesterday.
I'll be OK.

DJ Bitman,ha? This is not fairplay. However, feel free to upload him when your summer cheer is OK. In the last few weeks I have been triyng so hard to find one track and finally, I succeeded. Happy, happy, happy me!!!

I become fixated on a single artist when I read - I read Eco with Beirut, Llosa with Mayra Andrade. With her, I flash back to a time when the hours passed slowly and things appeared to have a little more depth..
When I uploaded my first song by her, it went unliked. Added emotional baggage is no joke.

An unhealthy tune is that you know...
Makes me wanna smoke cuban cigars or walk around barefoot

I liked them just fine before, but this last album has stellar musicianship and the usual great vocals on top. A new high.

One of my all time favorite bands

Aha! I claim all the credit on that one - Brooklyn is my design and I've been unabashedly using and establishing it over the last several months to the confusion of casual tfg readers. Now, months later, Brooklyn is a trained puppy and is more likely to respond to her name than not. Fetch, Brooklyn, fetch..!
That Teddy has been failing to come up with any good substitute name for me is a point of profound disappointment and a sad episode in this story.

I have to confess that you both inspire me the other day, so actually the name "Brooklyn" also cross my mind...Hm

A very sleepy genius apparently. You want to name your new pup Prokofiev? It'll certainly.. stand out of the pack.
Just go easy on the terms of endearing suggested....

I like the name. And you can call him Proko, Roko, Kofi, Fifi and of course... Prokofiev, come here! sounds totally rad.. :)

You lost me somewhere in the first line...

You are a genius! "Prokofiev" has "R" in it. Why not? Toulouse -Lotrek was the name of my last pet, so maybe it's high time to change the arts.

1. That's rad. Once more.
2. Cats like gardens too...! Kittens making their way gingerly through shrubs and flowerbeds is a fountain of positive feelings.
I moved away from mine recently.. and exchanged 20 years of cat-sitting for 4 potted plants. Bering relieved of my duties is relaxing. Not having a cat for the first time.. unnerving.
3. I support this.

1. Yes, I have a very decent vinyl collection - my most precious heritage from the years that I spent in Russia

2. My beloved cat died on my last birthday so NO, definitely no cat. Besides, what's the point of moving into a new house with nice garden, if you don't have a dog?
3. Obviously, the classical spirit is chasing all of us. Toworrow you'll understand that I mean

You've a vinyl collection? That's rad.
Gramophones are making a comeback, not only as decoration in our grandparents' home or @ corny bachelors' pads.
/Andr has one. You can compare.

My revised goals for June 2010:
1. Convince you to get a cat instead.
2. Accept that 1. will not happen and badmouth Bearded Collies. I mean, the shedding - it's ridiculous. Also, global warming will cause them to be one lazy, lazy breed.
3. Avoid parks so as to not get bitten by your Labrador R.

Me & Teddy watched the Konzertmeisters final show @ Sofia, with Mila Georgieva (T. said "It was ok..") and I went home inspired to make some progress on my classical collection. Is it even a collection if half of it you have never listened to?

My Top 3 Goals for June 2010:

1. Get a dog - Labrador Retriever or Bearded Collie (like the one in Disney's Little Mermaid)
2. Find the perfect male dog name with "R" in it
3. Buy a new gramophone, so I can enjoy better the track from 20's, 30's, 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's :)

Nice find, I had forgotten about that song... I think the original one was a little better since I'm not a big Jay-z's flow.. but overall, still a nice song!

Uh-huh... listen, careful with that, I went to sleep with this the last track I heard - I dreamt of my parents being kidnapped, I began proceedings to sell the apartment to save them; then I emailed my friend to organize a police rescue mission, because I feared my apartment and phones might be tapped; a pet penguin I didn't know I had laid four! eggs, they hatched and all the penguins started jumping; at the same time, my cat hadn't noticed she was pregnant and a kitten on a piece of cardboard in passing, without her noticing; i had to feed it with a milk bottle; my parent's appeared on a sofa, napping, said they were on a vacation, I worried for nothing; my cat sniffed at the baby penguins, i was terrified she'd eat them, but she joined in the hopping... It was all very real!

Exactly the kind of inspiration, I needed so badly this morning

but sways, how could you do this to us?!

хърбел, щърбел и смях в залата.

very cheap tricks to get me to fave your songs... try something else - like uploading good music.

OHH SNAP.

I can't believe you won't fave a song that begins with "Brooklyn wins again"... shame on you, Brooklyn.

I quit TFG, disgruntled, uploaded "Send in The Clowns" as my farewell song (performed by Dame Judi Dench on the "Hey, Mr. Producer" DVD of the gala musical revival night from 1998), slept, changed the song this morning at 7:45, left the original picture, all in all, an ordinary day.

i think i just totally missed what happened yesterday in front of the movie theater.

That made my day. No, really! Ok, not really.
But you know I live for other people's approval ;)

That 'sways's soul is w/ the electric devil' thing didn't really take, although I still maintain my Journey mash up and the Little Boots chorus are fun!

i like the name of your channel. :)

Conveniently, Gemma lets you download the song for free and it's even wrapped pretty.

:)
Yes. It's such a quirky tune & a bunch of performers chasing after, vocal crayon in hand, trying to draw borders around but losing it themselves. It audibly evolves and at least for a while, it beats the radio.
If you give them your email (them: http://theknife.net/tommorow-in-a-year-information.html), they will give you the .mp3 and let you know when the main dish is ready (March 2010)

Basically it features images of not especially gross pornography and a surprising narrator.

haha... since I haven't missed a day, that makes me responsible for a good chunk of said despair, does it not?
I still insist my 26th of Dec. upload is as good as this. Go fav it, don't be a music snob as me!

been catching up on feelgood songs and i was starting to despair... until i stumbled on this.. very nice. :)

sometimes i tend to agree with the statement above.

really needed to take a deep breath and this piece is.......intoxicating and sobering at the same time. perfect.

Yeah, about that.. 4AM uploads usually turn out that way. Blank page it is.

Great song! But is the title White black song or White blank page?

"the early bird catches the worm" as they say. grrr. love it!

Didn't expect to see her in this site. (:

woooow. it's really only love ....

Good luck with that.
The poetry is marvellous, though some suspect that the official booklet reading "bolt like a horse" is only half correct, as in some performances she delivers the line "bold like a whore". The jury is out. I like it anywhichway.

I totally love her voice!! Next time I go to karaoke I will sing this song lol

that was to say, best of *my* uploads.

Likewise for me, this song was nicely timed. Best of month, like.
It'll tie you till tomorrow and you know who comes a'knockin' tomorrow, don't you, Brooklyn?[exclamation points galore, obsession's in bloom]

Great. Exactly what i needed...

i was being overly hopeful or just a bit delusional.
you're better off than me now, I'm feel so let down!

why do you lieee!? they haven't launched it yet!

Here's to simple affirmations of almost mystical sway and understatedly epic sound to put the punk in your step.

that's the perfect song for my morning alarm. get's you in the right mood. and saves the morning affirmations too =P
great, great track. love it.

T took her sweet time about it and opportunists are not to be faulted! :)

The Sun Ain't Shining No More by Friday or it'll be opportunists again who make it so!

Hahaha... T would probably do it too... :)

Most assuredly so. If you look into TAGT, you'll see they've even more cheerfulness to spread around.:)

Very cheerful! :)

I've heard a lot that Belle and Sebastian owe everything to Nick Drake and this tune definitely underlines that. Lovely.

i can't stop listening to this track. love the feeling of easiness and the melancholic, contemplative tone.beautiful.

great!great! great! i love it !

Genius at work.

this is what i'd call emotional nudity. it's so beautiful, vulnerable and shockingly forthright....it's disarming.

nice nice nice

oh! oh! oh! loooooove it :)

Me too, on both counts!
I've had it on every phone or audio player since back when it came out first, as part of a core music package that I never really got tired of... but never thought to upload it here.

oh, i looooove this track. damn it!i have completely forgotten it.

I have "dressed" mine with the song description, while if I remember correctly, yours peeked just over it, giving the start to that controversial discussion! :)

Not that I'm impartial when it comes to nipples (though its legs that get me going), but I actually loved the body-paint work on this one and the colours.

Happy you dig it. Make sure you check out the whole album.

i see we share affinity for nipples, lol.

i had that same pic as a desktop long time ago. can't remember where i found it. weird to see it here =)

really cool track.

Right, right?!
I got a hit on your "Funky fresh" photo of this dancer (that -was- a good look, brooklyn!), but this one filled the shoes I dared not use.
It got me in a pretty cool mood.

mnogo me kefi taia snimka!

That's alright, it's the norm for me.
I make a supposition that it being august, a lot of feelgooders are travelling or at the seaside and that accounts for the low activity on the website.
Then I go on to say that I find this track to be very cool and I commend them on giving it this a home-cooked jam-session feel, just some friends getting together and throwing verses at each other.
I then point out my life is not as eventful or interesting these days as I'd like it to be.
That about sums it up. Only, I've applied a "the less sense, the cooler I appear" philosophy. Clearer now? :)

I like yours too.. but being a fan of Timba and, separately, Indian music, I've had too of this already...

That description is super confusing to me. Either way I really like the song.

That's a really good one!

love that everyday prophets joint.

I like her unusual, prominent vibrato... long waves, shimmering ripples (a little like those of Antony's...you know--Antony and the Johnsons?) ...Anyway. What was I saying? Oh. Yeah. I love the 1940s wartime jazz feel, the warmth of the instruments, the muted trumpet, the sandy, granular whir and stir of jazz brushes on drum...the overall vintagey atmosphere of the song...

Yes! I call him My Little Oriental 'Faithless'.
Except, you know, London-based, English-born and Big.
Posting Koyal on Saturday!

i love this guy! he has such a diverse background and really versatile career. great talent.

You could say I was name-dropping to add credibility. ;)
Also, I was looking up an Anjulie video (remember, you posted her) and turns out her and Jane are both signed to the same label!

For this one, it would've taken some effort.

That's what I like
Big ole' fat ones, yellow and black ones
That's what I like
Ladies from Boston with college degrees
Swimmers and gymnasts with knobbly knees
Working class mothers and rich divorcees

That's what I like

Young ones with pimples, fun ones with dimples
That's what I like
Sly ones and strippers, shy ones in slippers
That's what I like
Farmers daughters, engineers wives
Girls who throw parties, girls who throw knives
Spinsters, who've made the most of their lives

That's what I like

But only just to look
Darling, I promise on The Book

Born again Christians, *who read psalms and Nietzsche*
That's what I like
Brunettes, redheads, feminists, dead heads
That's what I like
Girls who've been 30 for 25 years
some they talk dirty, so cover your ears
Ladies who ride you like charioteers

That's what I like.

But only just to look
Darling, I promise on The Book

Vegetarians hooked on vitamins
Arabs, Jews, senior citizens,
Russians, Turks, Tutsis, Huutuus,
Busty girls from Tonga in tutus,
Is it so strange (Nay)
Is it so wrong (Nay)
I'm not ashamed to sing this song
because that's what I like

Yeah, that's what I like
All right, All right, All right, All right,

That's what I like,

Hahaha these lyrics need to be posted and I can't find them anywhere

nod & shrug.

Her best non-album track ever, although I still can't figure out how it ended up on the Begin To Hope expanded album.

Everything can capsize
With the certainty of your eyes
Which carry all of your love

Without hesitating I probe
Their small depths, nothing more
Wanting those two buckled lakes

Eye to eye and nothing else
The first glance fills me
As if everything else was foreign to me

No, it's not the recording of the song from 40 years ago (Happy Anniversary). That guitar just distracts from the vocal and I don't like it!
Yes, it is the recording featured on the Love, Actually soundtrack, supposedly made later, with a full studio orchestra and where Joni is concerned, a more mature voice.
Dianne Reeves' voice isn't as deep in her cover, but smoother and pitchier - still, good guess on the fly.
Lawrence Lessig name dropping went quite over my head, even if I've heard of "Free Culture", but hey, you go girl. You showed me!

Shall I look for the OST receipt...?

That's not Joni Mitchell. It's someone (sounds to me like Dianne Reeves) covering Both Sides Now. Living proof you can't trust LimeWire.

Lawrence Lessig is throwing a hissy fit somewhere, at your double-offense of piracy AND improper attribution.

Closing my eyes to Maria's post, I have another answer:

She is unhappy with humanity as a Whole - as one would be with the naughty and unmannerly child you see on the playground, left in the care of a disinterested parent chatting away on their cell and turning a blind eye to their brat ruining the fun for everybody else. Maria's dislike for most everyone lends supernatural powers to her nods of approval, making it seems as if someone qualified to do so has just recognized the divine spark residing in your being - close enough to the surface to make you Special. Now isn't this Something?

Ah, yes, I'd gladly give James Thurber a pat on the back (or the head, as this seems to be the fashion here) for having said, "Why do you have to be a nonconformist like everyone else?" and leave it at that.

In a world where pats on the head are a cheap, easily handed out commodity, Maria, by all apperances, subscribes not at all. That puts the common bootlicks of the world, i.e. yours truly, in an impossible situation. One is forced either to take offense to Maria's nonconformity, be deemed a disagreeable person and as such excluded from her company altogether (yet another wholly separate and multi-layered exclusive circle of trust), or to mimic the same behaviour with different degrees of success, which ultimately means becoming a purveyor of nonconformity oneself and thereby not craving Maria's doting affection / nod of agreement in the first place, which defeats the whole purpose, as you've just underwent an extreme personality make-over and in the end She still doesn't give a ....

So, Run, Elijah, Run, in the opposite direction! But there's no escape!

hahahaha.... this might be the most entertaining 'conversation' i've read the whole week... seriously though, what is it about Maria that just makes you crave that pat on the head from her and do anything to deserve it...hm... :)

*wags tail and looks up to you in adoration*

Uh huh, glad you like it.

V. cool. Love the Jeb Loy Nichols vocal here. Reminds me of Tommy Blaize on that Basement Jaxx track, "On The Train."

Duly noted.
In all frankness, though, I've been aware of the curious absence of any Travis-es in the band's rooster since the turn of the millennium and "Why Does It Always Rain On Me?", but being as I were in a hurry to re-upload a different song and fix a bug that had my picture decorating the 'river of music', which would hint I was as narcissistic as I actually am - a fact I've elected to keep a secret or at least seriously downplay - I paid no mind to the phrasing of my comment and while you might be right in not wanting to mislead them not on intimate terms with Travis or employing Google to saturate their music knowledge with artist trivia, I was referring to Travis, the collective band entity, who, given the name, I'm now in the habit of thinking of as of belonging to the male persuasion of incorporeal entities, i.e. "he".
That sentence is probably a law violation.

It's actually "they" – as in Travis the band, not a guy named Travis. Let's give proper credit – because imagine how badly it sucks to be the guy in a band that people don't even know is a band.

You're hoping she only looks 15.
I could probably get you the number of her agency...

haha. exactly. that look...hmmmm

It's an illusion - good lighting and image retouching. Shake it off.
Oh, who are we kidding, me too.. me too.

i know, but the affections are for the girl on the picture, not for the guy :P

Nuh huh, the guy. Michael's the guy.
